Raj is Group Chief Executive Officer of Sigma Group, leading all three of its licensed companies: Sigma Pharmaceuticals, the Group’s wholesale & retail distributor; OPD Laboratories, which specialises in parallel imports and unlicensed medicines; and RX Farma, the Group’s generic marketing authorisation holder. Working with the Board and the Group Executive team, he sets the strategic direction for the Group as a whole, with a focus on sustainable growth, operational excellence and the long-term strength of Sigma’s partnerships with community pharmacy, manufacturers and suppliers.
Raj joined Sigma in August 2018 as Commercial Director. His priority was to restructure the commercial team around the needs of customers, and he worked closely with procurement and sales to align buying decisions with what the market needed. As Managing Director of OPD and RX Farma, he went on to drive significant growth in the Group’s portfolio of Product Licences for Parallel Import (PLPIs) and Marketing Authorisations, broadening the range of medicines Sigma can bring to market and strengthening the supply chains behind them. He was appointed Group Chief Executive in April 2026.
Before Sigma, Raj spent many years in UK community pharmacy after moving from the USA in 2002. At Nucare he worked with the board to manage a 35-branch pharmacy retail group. He then joined Avicenna as Commercial Director, where he was instrumental in growing its membership and worked with the CEO to build shareholder value. These roles gave him a deep understanding of community pharmacy and a strong network across the sector. They also gave him first-hand board and governance experience, which he has brought to Sigma. He has worked with the Board to strengthen the Group’s governance as the business has grown, helping it develop into a forward-looking Board that is well equipped to guide Sigma’s next stage of growth.
Outside work, Raj enjoys trekking, travelling and watching sport, and is an avid Manchester United supporter. With his children now grown up, he makes the most of time with his wife and places real value on a healthy work–life balance.
