Sigma’s Second UK Seminar Of 2019


We were really pleased to welcome all our delegates, supporters and speakers to the London Heathrow Marriot Hotel this weekend for our second UK seminar of 2019.

As well as an excellent opportunity to network, our delegates enjoyed speakers from PSNC, NPA, AIM and our own Sigma Executives. Several core topics important to community pharmacy were covered including the CPCF 5-year deal, community pharmacy drug reimbursement and Primary Care Networks. Liberal Democrat leader Jo Swinson MP visits Sigma Pharmaceuticals Plc


Jo Swinson, the Liberal Democrat leader, visited Sigma Pharmaceuticals Plc on Wednesday 6 November as part of her electoral campaign tour.

Ms Swinson, was joined by Mayor of Watford Peter Taylor, Watford parliamentary candidate Ian Stotesbury and Leader of Three Rivers District Council Sara Bedford.

The visitors were given a tour of the newly refurbished warehouse and distribution facility for retail pharmacy and Sigma’s European PI operation. She cited Sigma as being a “great example of some of the challenges” faced in the economy when it comes to Brexit. Her visit was completed with a brief Q&A session with some of the Sigma Directors, where they shared their fears and concerns about Brexit and the current challenges in pharmacy. Read More

European Business Awards, National Winner


Sigma Pharmaceuticals is proud to have been named as a national winner in the European Business Awards.

The award is presented to an organisation that can demonstrate the ability to create innovations that improve performance, operational effectiveness and benefit stakeholders. Sigma was recognised for our work to update our warehouse with the latest technology and incorporate the FMD processes required from February this year.

Following this national success, Sigma will now be entered into the next stage of the awards where we will compete against other European businesses in the innovation category.

Sigma are proud winners in the National Family Business Awards 2019


Sigma are very proud to have been named national champions in the Health and Care Services section of the National Family Business Awards 2019 which were held at Wembley Stadium this month. This is the only award to nationally recognise family business, judging on values and being an extraordinary family firm. As a second-generation family business that continues to thrive and grow, this rewards the contribution of our extended family of over 300 valued colleagues.

The judges were particularly impressed with how the family and business values are aligned, which was highlighted in the above-average length of service of our staff and the relationships with our customers. We really appreciate the contribution of all our staff and the continuing support of all our customers and suppliers.

Sigma Announces chosen charity for 2020

Sigma Pharmaceuticals plc are pleased to announce that they have adopted the Essex & Herts Air Ambulance Trust as their chosen sponsored Charity for 2020.

Established in 1997, the Air Ambulance Service is a charity funded service and is kept airborne thanks to the generosity of those who make donations, fundraisers and volunteers in aid of the EHAAT.  This is a vital, life-saving service, serving Essex and Herts. Read More

Bharat Shah honoured in Queen’s Birthday List 2019

Sigma Pharmaceuticals plc are pleased to announce that Dr Bharat Shah has been honoured with a CBE in the Queen’s Birthday Honours List 2019.

Dr Bharat ShahThe award was made for ‘services to business, economic growth, exporting, the independent pharmacy sector and philanthropy.’  The honour crowns a long and a distinguished career in the pharmacy profession for Dr Shah.  A highly respected professional and ‘elder statesman for pharmacy’, he has been a passionate advocate for independent community pharmacy, helping the sector raise standards and campaigning for the profession to become an integral part of the enlarged NHS.

Sigma Welcomes Sir Vince Cable


Liberal Democrats leader Sir Vince Cable visited Sigma’s automated facility at HD House.

The lib Dem leader, also joined by two Lib Deb European Parliament (MEP) candidates for the East of England, Barbara Gibson and Lucy Nethsingha, as well as the mayor of Watford, Peter Taylor, stressed the need to work together with pharmacists to deliver the best health outcome for the nation.
